Almendra was one of the most important Rock & Roll group from Buenos Aires late 60's. Led by guitarist and lyricist Luis Alberto Spinetta, between 1968 and 1971, they released a few singles and two albums that revolutionized the sound of Argentina rock for the remainder of the 20th century. They reached stardom in 1969 after various shows including Mar Del Plata, Festival de la Canción in Peru, and Festival Pinap.
An innovative and creative group being always situated on the border between sweetness and fury. Very violent and inspired hard-Blues-psych tracks.
The first album, released in November 1969, proposes the magnificient "Color Humano" of 9 minutes. Great album where prevail cool, breezy & psychedelic atmosphere with some beautiful melodies delivered by Luis Alberto Spinetta, who is also one hell of a guitar player. They mined a territory that might not be too distant from its anglo-saxon counterparts but oozed a charm all of its own making.
